Success on the road

The tour to Seattle was very successful.
The Wolves had a great rockin' time in their rockin' rocket rv, a little cramped at times, but leave it to cramped spaces to pull a band together closer.

Their first show at the "Queen of Hearts" was lots of fun, although it DID get cut short.
The audience was AWESOME and they were all having a rockin' good time.

Sick Wolf finished off their set with a Johnny Burnette number, "Tear It Up". And that is exactly what they did to the stage.

It was one of those brilliant scenes that you hear of from roadhouse bars in the past.
As the Wolves were breaking down their equipment, the cocktail waitress was sweeping up broken glass from the floor.

Luckily the last part of that night was captured on video (Below)

------------------
The next morning Sick Wolf awoke with very little sleep and huge hangovers.
Phil, the bands costume / hair stylist, slept in after having a rough time with Jack "drunk-ass" Spade the following night.

Buck Ettee, Jezebel Bloom, Bryan Irwin, Jack Spade, his brother Jimmy Whiskey and Sick Wolf's new Portland Friend "Schmoe", who had come to hang with the band for the remainder of the Portland portion of the trip, all went to "My Fathers Place" in SE Portland.

"My Fathers Place" is a greasy spoon dive bar / restaurant that Jack Spade used to frequent back in his Portland days, and after going there, we can all see why. The food there can soak up the mighty Mississippi river if it ran strictly booze.

After brunch, the gang went back to Jack Spade's mother and fathers trailer in Milwaukee, OR. for some R&R before their next show at the Ponderosa.

------------------
The "Ponderosa" show was much more subdued than the "Queen of Hearts" show.
As it usually is with an opening act. Sick Wolf gave a wonderful show considering the hang-overs they were nurturing. There were people on the dance floor throughout their whole set, and many more in the back of the bar warming up their livers.

Mike, from the Ponderosa, hooked the band UP with some killer food and drinks.
There were so many gorgeous women at the show to keep Jack running back and forth like the silly dog he is and the band made many, many more great Portland, OR. friends.

Sick Wolf definitely gives "The Ponderosa" 16 paws up!

Video of the show is below!

After this show, they headed up north to Seattle, WA. saying their farewell to Portland and all their new Oregonian friends.

-----------------------

The Shanty Tavern was a KILLER way to end the whole tour.
So many great musicians that got the rockin' rollin' with a bunch of Johnny Cash songs, including Jack's brother "Jimmy Whiskey".

The place was packed shoulder to shoulder with fun, energetic rockabilly guy and gals.
And Sick Wolf was prepared to give 'em some good ol' Rock N Roll.
Jack's whole family was at this show, his Mom and Dad, his Brother Jimmy, his sister Karen and his brother-in-law Greg (who kindly manned the camera for the band).

There were some technical issues, but Sick Wolf played through them and the crowd hit the dance floor with "Sweet Pea" leading the way with some stroll numbers.

Great time!
Great tour!
Great people!
Great fun!
Made this a GREAT and Successful trip for Sick Wolf.

"The Art of Slap Bass"

...From a friend and instructor of mine.
This is a really great thing that he's got going, read the intro and check out the site.
You won't be disappointed... "Jack Spade"

In past few years, interest in slap technique for the double bass has been increasing exponentially. Unfortunately, it continues to be very difficult to find information about it.

While researching for my upcoming book about slap bass, I had a chance to meet and interview some of the greatest living bassists. The majority of these players rarely (or never) get media attention. It's a shame that throughout history, so many amazing musicians only become recognized posthumously. In my opinion, recognizing contemporary efforts is an important part of progress.

My intention is not to be a journalist of any kind. I'm primarily a bass player who wants to promote slap technique and to illustrate how slap can be used in any genre of music. The Art of Slap Bass is for everyone; not only jazz, classical, rock'n'roll and world music bassists, but also for people who share a passion for this beautiful instrument.

Hopefully, this website will be a useful source of information for bassists all over the world; a place where people interested in slap bass can connect with each other (see the forum). It should also help to promote some of today's finest slap bass players. I'll post their interviews on this website and feature their videos on the youtube channel, so please subscribe to it here.

I hope this website will grow over time and that it will encourage others to share their knowledge about slap bass.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Djordje Stijepovic

Thanks for coming to our show.

To everyone that came and saw us play last night, thanks!
We had a wonderful time!

We are taking a break from booking shows from now until we tour in March.
Gonna work more on recording our CD / Record and getting some merchandise.

Also, last night might be the last time we ever play the Eagle.
The owners are selling it, and who knows what will become of the place.
I just hope that it don't turn into another lame-ass techno club.
I've had many of good times playing at the Eagle and it will surely be missed.

Anaconda, good luck to you on your mission of becoming district 6 supervisor!!!!
I hope the party last night did your cause justice.

BTW, don't be shy to subscribe to our blog.
One free BJ for every subscriber. LOL
